Minimalist running is the next best thing to barefoot running. Minimalist running is using shoes that are so minimal that they mimic the action of barefoot running. The minimalist shoes are really just a foot covering as opposed to supporting or cushioning the foot.

Barefoot running is the latest trend in running form with all sorts of claims as to the benefits to it. The biggest problem with barefoot running is the time needed for a gradual and slow transition from shoe running to barefoot.
